As a tile painter in Azul, you are challenged to decorate the walls of the Royal Palace of Evora. The azulejos (originally white and blue ceramic tiles), introduced by the Moors, were fully embraced by the Portuguese when their king Manuel I, during a visit to the Alhambra palace in southern Spain, was mesmerized by the breathtaking beauty of the Moorish decorative tiles. The king, deeply impressed by the inner beauty of the Alhambra, immediately ordered his own palace in Portugal to be embellished with similar wall tiles.
